The Bay of Plenty Pipes and Drums are a competing grade 4b pipe band based in Tauranga with members from all over the Bay of Plenty. We play often during the year for the community at christmas parades, graduation parades, fundraisers,. community events and concerts as well as at Competitions.
Band members offer tuition to anyone who is eager and at any one time can have a number of youth and adults learning. Learning players are included in all band activities and can participate with the band in a variety of playouts. The band can provide a piper/pipers/drummers or the entire band for special events or celebrations so please get in touch today!
Our Tartan
The band wears the Spirit of Scotland Tartan.
Designed by Michael King of Philip King Tailoring Ltd, Aberdeen. The design was adopted by the National Trust for Scotland for Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire. We have been wearing this tartan since 2019 |

PIPE MAJOR...
Damian Hodgetts
Damian joind and started learning the pipes with the band in 2014. He was given position of pipe corporal in 2016 and later that year taking on the role as the Pipe Major. Damian also currently competes with the City of Tauranga Pipe Band and is the Pipe Corporal there. Damian has also played with the well known Grade 1 band The Auckland & District Pipe Band and also competes in B Grade Solo Piping Competitions. Damian is pationate about teaching the bagpipes to up and coming youngsters and helps many other bands in our centre.
